2019 Michigan American Legion High School Oratorical Contest is looking for contestants

We are looking for high school students who welcome learning to compete in our 2019 Constitutional Speech Contest
 
Intention to compete is due by November 20, 2018 December 1, 2018 (extended)
 
This contest is for students who welcome learning. Who are seeking an academic challenge and opportunity to gain scholarship funds, The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program is a natural fit. Students learn about our country’s Constitution in a contest that has been held by The American Legion for more than 80 years.
 
The American Legion Department of Michigan is preparing for the 2019 High School Oratorical Scholarship Competition. This competition gives contestants the opportunity to compete for $18,000 in scholarship money in a speech contest centered on the U.S. Constitution.
 
Please pass this information along to your students, parents, and your social studies, government, and other interested parties
 
This year the amendments are the first, fourth, thirteenth, and twenty-first amendments. One amendment will be selected before the contest, and all contestants will speak on that chosen amendment for three to five minutes. Each contestant will give a prepared speech for eight to ten minutes.
